Oklahoma House Bill 1332 moves forward

 

On March 22, 2009, ACA and breeders were able

To lobby Oklahoma’s Senate Appropriations

Committee members to vote “No” on HB 1332.  

As the animal rights activists realized the vote

For March 23, 2009 was not going their way,

They lobbied for a one week delay in the vote.

The vote on HB 1332 was rescheduled for

April 1, 2009 (Wednesday).  HSUS posted notice

Of their rally to pass HB 1332 on March 31, 2009

 

ACA immediately notified breeders of the activists

Rally and initiated a counter rally at the state

Capitol building.  Breeders and their family members made up a group of over 300 people who gathered in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on March 31, 2009.  

The American Canine Association, inc. (ACA) organized the breeders into smaller groups, giving each group different talking points and timelines for visiting key Oklahoma Senators.

 

ACA provided handouts, pins, and other information

need for the “pro-breeder” lobbying effort.  A

simultaneous phone call and e-mail campaign was

designed to give added support for the breeders as

they visited lawmakers.  

 

HSUS & PETA also had their National Lobby Day at

the Oklahoma Capitol.  The animal activists a strong

campaign of misinformation presenting pictures of

kennels illegal, unlicensed, substandard kennels.

Reporters interviewed both sides trying to determine

Fact from fiction.  The animal rights groups Late

Wednesday afternoon Continued with their disinfor-

mation strategy into Wednesday.

 

On Wednesday afternoon (04/01/2009), the Oklahoma

Senate Appropriation Committee passed HB 1332 with

all unconstitutional issues still remaining in the bill.  

 

The bill ha not yet been assigned to another committee for scheduled for a floor vote in the Senate.
